Policy Analysis
I partnered up with United for Global Mental Health as a Senior Research Assistant to carry out literature reviews, policy analysis and analysed barriers to integration of NCD and mental healthcare from a health systems and equity perspective
With the NCD Alliance, as the Senior Research Analyst, I conducted rapid literature reviews on health systems strengthening, and adequacy and accessibility of healthcare services. Developed policy recommendations addressing systemic barriers related to gender, mental health, and access to care and contributed to a policy brief supporting optimization of health workforce in NCD care
Research and Facilitation
In affiliation with iWordsGlobal, I conducted qualitative research on youth-led approaches to health and social development, facilitated multiple focus group discussions with grass-roots organisations, and produced a case study on participatory grant-making and community engagement
Workshop Facilitation
Recently, I facilitated a workshop on Gender Mainstreaming in Health as the Research and Policy Lead at Commonwealth Youth Gender Equality Network in partnership with Royal Commonwealth Society. The workshop covered key concepts of gender mainstreaming and trained the attendees to use their skills and tools to carry out gender analysis of health interventions and programmes.
Previously, I have facilitated a workshop for medical doctors on gender sensitization in a government hospital
Grant Application Review
As a subject matter expert, in partnership with Grand Challenges Canada, I reviewed funding proposals from grassroots organisations focused on adolescent mental health and health systems strengthening. I assessed the proposals’ alignment with local needs, equity considerations, and implementation feasibility in complex settings. I also provided structured feedback on programme design, stakeholder engagement, and potential for impact

Data with purpose. Advocacy with impact. Health with equity.

1. Orphans kNOw More (OKM) was co-founded by Warda Batool at the NUST Community Services Club (NCSC) to expand educational opportunities for orphaned children through literacy, mentorship, creative learning, and access to educational resources. By fostering engaging learning environments, the initiative empowered children with the knowledge, confidence, and life skills to reach their full potential. The project’s impact was further recognized when it became a 2019 Millennium Fellowship Project under the United Nations Academic Impact and Millennium Campus Network.
Among numerous philanthropic initiatives, our founder, Warda Batool, led two flagship projects—Orphans kNOw More and Fempower—which exemplify her commitment to advancing education, gender equality, and social justice.
2. Co-founded by Warda Batool in 2014, Fempower was a women’s empowerment initiative dedicated to advancing economic independence, gender equality, and social inclusion. The project combined vocational skills development with advocacy and public dialogue, supporting underprivileged women while raising awareness of women’s rights and the structural barriers affecting health, education, and economic participation. It was part of NUST Community Services Club’s MacJannet Prize-winning work in women’s empowerment
